Northway is a place where I can share information I researched about campervans and van builds, not only for others, but also for me to not do the research twice.

The story

When I bought a VW camper back in 2016 together with my girlfriend, I started researching a lot in the internet about campervans, VW T4 and camperbuilds. I read hundreds of blog posts and watched even more Youtube videos to gather the information I needed to restore and enhance our van. I added a solar system to the 30 year old van and wanted to know everything about this technology, what parts I need, how to install it, what cable dimensions and battery capacity are the right one.

After all this research I thought, it would be nice to share all this knowledge in short and compact blog posts. On top I could gather some extra money with affiliate links from Amazon and co.

So I started to build a small blog with a headless CMS called Storyblok and a Nuxt frontend. After a while I got sick of maintaining this thing as I was the only content editor anyway the CMS was way to overengineered, so I switched to Nuxt content and rebuilt the whole site.

The basics

Static Nuxt website, JAM stack, Nuxt content CMS, Vercel hosting

Technologies and services

  • Nuxt / Vue – Frontend framework
  • Nuxt content – CMS
  • Netlify – Hosting
  • Cloudinary – image CDN

Whats special about the project

Static hosted, image CDN, fast af, very good technical SEO => Google ranking is pretty good without ever spent a dime on Adwords.

The future

For the future I try to write more posts and keep this thing up-to-date, this is enough work for this little thing.
